Start Anew

I love the freshness of a new calendar.  It’s right up there with an unopened package of post-it notes or an empty journal.

The possibilities are endless.

But as we polish off any leftover cookies and return to the new year, these possibilities can also seem overwhelming - especially when we’re thinking about the impact we want to make in the upcoming year.

How will we prioritize the most important activities ahead of us, especially if we’re tackling something new?

I've spent more than a decade talking to business leaders in the midst of transformations (ESG, digital, or operational) and one theme is always consistent: we have to start with the end in mind.

For leaders, that means simplifying the action plan by thinking about our objectives for the year - and reminding ourselves:

  • What kind of leader do you want to be?

  • What value will you bring to your customers?

  • How will you create new opportunities for your employees?

  • How will you be a good partner to your communities?

Feeling ready? Make the questions above a quick morning meditation.
